Fairy Houses
Log house
My wife did these fairy houses, I had nothing to do with them so all credit goes to her.
Begin with a standard jam jar laid on it's side.
Use tinfoil to create any sort of shape you like. You can use the tinfoil to create literally any shape you want. She used a bit of cardboard for the door to keep it flat.
Once you are happy with the rough shape then it's time to clay it. She used air dried clay, in hindsight it's not the best choice.
She added clay mushrooms and made marks in the clay so it looked sort of like a log.
This took about a week to dry and it cracked quite bad in places but as we were going for a log look this wasn't a problem.
Next up is to paint it. Obviously as it's a log it was going to be brown with colours added to accentuate the door and mushrooms.
She the added a bit of fake leaf to the chiminey and a butterfly
She tried different lighting inside as we want it to look like there are lights on when it's dark. None of these looked right so I will be adding solor powed LED lighting to them when they are all finished.
Add some fairies to it and Voilà.
